Kathmandu, July 15, 2025 – Two Nepali students studying at Louisiana Tech University in the United States were tragically killed in a car crash last Saturday night (local time). The victims, 22-year-old Rajan Yadav and 20-year-old Rojin Oli, lost their lives at the scene of the accident, which occurred during a heavy rainstorm.
According to Louisiana State Police, the incident took place just before 9:00 PM on Saturday, July 12, on U.S. Highway 80 in Ruston, Louisiana. Initial reports indicate that a Honda Accord, driven by Rajan Yadav, veered off the road and collided with a tree. The vehicle subsequently caught fire.
Police confirmed that Yadav and Oli died at the scene. Two other passengers in the car sustained injuries and were transported to hospital for treatment. Further details regarding the condition of the injured passengers have not been released. It remains unconfirmed whether the deceased were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident. Authorities have collected routine toxicology samples for analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.

University President Jim Henderson conveyed his condolences via a Facebook post, stating that the entire university community was deeply saddened by the incident.
