“Cohesion” captures Sanyukta’s deep connection to her homeland, blending the vibrant history of Nepal with modern, sustainable fashion. “It is not just about me as a designer in spotlight, it is about every person behind the scenes, our dedicated team in NEPAL and BRITAIN from Fashion models, Photographers, Cinematographers, Makeup/Hairstylists, Voiceover artist, Coordination Team to Farmers, Craft Makers, Seamstress, Embroidery Artisans and Women Weavers in villages of Nepal that I am very proud of. It was a first of its kind to represent Nepal as a fore-frontier of Sustainability in Fashion, women empowerment and preservation of ancient craft in a global map and I am so glad it is taking its place. I am overwhelmed but equally grateful to Fashion TV for featuring ‘Cohesion’ so beautifully’ adds designer Sanyukta sharing her joy with Fashion TV Preview on her 230K combined followers on Instagram and Facebook.
Premiered at London Fashion Week, the documentary delves into Sanyukta’s belief in the power of fashion as a force for cultural cohesion and social harmony by spotlighting Nepalese artisans—95% of whom are women. ‘Fashion should not only look and feel good, but it must do good’ Sanyukta said. ‘By valuing the artisans behind each piece, we ensure the preservation of traditional skills and contribute to a sustainable future for the fashion industry’.
Sanyukta’s signature approach to sustainability is evident in every aspect of the collection. Using cruelty-free, vegan, and Fairtrade materials such as nettle, hemp, and organic bamboo, each piece is not only luxurious but also ethical. Sanyukta’s designs reflect the importance of slow fashion, with some garments requiring up to 2000 hours to create. This dedication to craftsmanship reflects her commitment to creating a more sustainable, socially responsible future for fashion. Sanyukta’s commitment to sustainability goes beyond material choices. The documentary accompanying the collection takes viewers on a journey from Nepal’s remote villages to the runways of London, showing the transformative power of sustainable fashion. Highlighting both the artisans and the designer’s ethical approach, the film reinforces Sanyukta’s mission to change the face of the fashion industry by prioritizing people, the planet, and craftsmanship over fast fashion
