Raju Acharya Elected President of Chitwan Aid Trust UK

London – Social worker Raju Acharya has been unanimously elected as the new President of Chitwan Aid Trust UK (CAT-UK). The announcement was made at the organisation’s 11th General Assembly, held on Sunday, July 20 in London. Raju will now lead the organisation for the 2025–2027 term.

The programme was conducted by CAT UK Advisor Yadav Shrestha, and the new leadership was declared by Trustee Lok Gurung. Outgoing President Krishna Tiwari presented a summary of his achievements using a PowerPoint presentation.

The committee was selected with the full support of CAT UK trustees, and the event included special guests such as educationist Gayatri Shrestha and founding president Kapil Shrestha. Everyone warmly congratulated Raju Acharya and expressed hope that under his leadership, CAT UK would reach new milestones in serving the community.

Raju Acharya: A Life Dedicated to Social Work

Raju Acharya was born in Chitwan, Nepal. He lost his mother at a young age, but her teachings about kindness and service deeply influenced his life.

In 1992, he travelled abroad for the first time, going to Germany. When he returned to Nepal in 1995, he was heartbroken to see that many children were still not getting basic education. That experience inspired him to do something meaningful for his community.

With personal effort and public support, he helped build a school called Kashirupa Primary School in Bhandara in ward 4 of Rapti Municipality. The school is still running today with the support of the Nepali government. Raju also donated his own savings to build a classroom, showing his strong personal commitment.

His social work didn’t stop there. He raised money to buy an ambulance, which he donated to the Red Cross in Bhandara to improve health services in the area.

In 2003, Raju moved to the United Kingdom and later joined Chitwan Aid Trust UK in 2007. The organisation brings together people originally from Chitwan who are now living in the UK. For over 21 years, CAT UK has been involved in supporting education, health, and disaster relief projects in Nepal.

Over the years, Raju took on many roles within CAT UK. He worked hard, took responsibility, and always focused on helping others. That dedication and service have now led him to be elected as President.

Vision for the Future

Raju Acharya has always believed that solving issues in education and health is the first step to solving many other problems in society. His clear and simple goal is to help the community with meaningful projects that bring long-term benefit.

Under his leadership, CAT UK is expected to continue and expand its work in Nepal and within the Nepali community in the UK. The rest of the new executive team — including the Vice President and General Secretary — will be announced soon.

As President, Raju brings not just experience, but also deep passion for community service. His journey is an inspiration to all Nepalis, reminding us how much one person can do when guided by compassion and commitment.
