£20,000 Reward Offered One Year After East London Stabbing

EAST LONDON – A reward of £20,000 is now being offered for information that helps to identify and convict those responsible for the fatal stabbing of Imran Maroof, which occurred in Plashet Park, Newham, exactly one year ago. Maroof, 20, was discovered in the park on 27 July after police responded to reports of a fight, and he tragically died at the scene.

Two teenage boys were also found at the location with injuries; one had stab wounds, and the other had head injuries, though neither was in a life-threatening condition.

A 16-year-old boy had previously been charged with murder in connection with the incident last August, but the legal proceedings against him were later dropped.

As the first anniversary of Imran Maroof's death passes, the Metropolitan Police are renewing their appeal to the public for help. The £20,000 reward, offered in conjunction with the independent charity Crimestoppers, aims to encourage anyone with knowledge of the crime to come forward.

Investigators emphasise their continued dedication to securing justice for Maroof's family, who are still grappling with their profound loss. Police are urging anyone who was in or around Plashet Park on the day of the stabbing, or who holds any information that could assist their efforts, to contact them. Information can be shared directly with the police, or anonymously through Crimestoppers, which assures complete confidentiality for those who report.
