NRNA convention to take place in March 2026

Kathmandu- The Steering Committee formed after the broad-based unity of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has announced new dates for the 12th General Convention. The committee’s seventh meeting, held on Friday, took a final decision to postpone the convention—previously scheduled for February—and hold it from March 14 to 16, 2026.

The meeting, chaired by General Secretary Gauriraj Joshi, made several important decisions not only on the convention dates but also on membership renewal, merger, and management. It was decided that the 12th General Convention will be held at Hotel Soaltee in Kathmandu. For the new dates, the Secretariat will move forward with a renewed contract process with the hotel and the event management company.

The Association has extended the deadline until January 25, 2026 for those wishing to obtain new membership or for those who were left out to submit their applications.

Similarly, parallel National Coordination Councils (NCCs) are required to submit, by the same deadline, the details of members they have registered through other portals. This process will be coordinated by General Secretary B. R. Lama and President Mahesh Kumar Shrestha. Membership lists from the Unity General Convention held in May 2025, along with newly received details, will be merged, and after document verification, the final membership roster will be published by January 31.

The meeting also decided that the Steering Committee will engage directly in dialogue with still-parallel NCCs to create an environment conducive to unity. The Association stated that further consultations will be held with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with legal advisors from both sides, to resolve legal complexities related to the election process.
