Nepali Kickboxer Abiral Ghimire to Compete in ‘K-1 World Max Tournament’ in Tokyo

Kathmandu — Nepali kickboxer Abiral Ghimire, known as the 'Himalayan Cheetah', is poised to compete in the prestigious 'K-1 World Max-2025 Tournament' on Sunday, 7 September, at the Yoyogi 2nd Gymnasium in Tokyo. The tournament, organised by the world-famous K-1 Group, is considered the pinnacle of kickboxing competitions.

Ghimire, who is currently undergoing special training with his father, former international kickboxer Dev Ghimire, in Japan, will face a French opponent in his first match. Should he win three consecutive matches, he will be crowned the tournament champion and become the world's number one kickboxer in the sport's history.

Boxers from a dozen countries, including China, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, Brazil, Poland, Russia, and the USA, are set to compete in the highly anticipated event.

With an impressive record of 19 knockout wins in 25 international competitions, Ghimire is no stranger to success. In May 2019, he clinched the 'K-1 Cross 175' title in Osaka by defeating Japanese champion Oda Jinke in the second round.

Nepali Ambassador to Japan, Dr Durga Bahadur Subedi, has extended his best wishes to Ghimire, highlighting that his participation alone marks a historic achievement for Nepal.
