Nepal to Host 2026 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Global Qualifier

KATHMANDU, NEPAL – Nepal is set to host a significant international cricket tournament, the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 Global Qualifier. The event is scheduled to run for 21 days, from January 12 to February 2, 2026.

The qualifier will feature ten teams competing across two venues in Mulpani: the Lower Stadium and the Upper Stadium. Five of the participating teams have already been confirmed. Bangladesh and Scotland secured their places based on their performance in the 2024 Women's T20 World Cup. The United States qualified by winning the Americas Qualifier, while Thailand earned their spot as the top team from the Asia Qualifier. Nepal, as the host nation, will participate as the runner-up of the Asia Qualifier.

The tournament format will begin with two groups, each comprising five teams. Following the group stage, the competition will progress to a Super Six stage, culminating in a final match. Only four of the ten teams participating in this global qualifier will ultimately advance to the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026, which is to be held in England and Wales.

This hosting opportunity marks a significant milestone for Nepali cricket, showcasing the nation's growing presence on the international stage.
