Gulmi - Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has temporarily reduced its flights to Gulmi, a district in Lumbini Province. The airline has decided to cut its service from four flights a week down to just one flight a week. The change is in effect immediately.
The decision was made because of a problem with the airline's planes. Two of the three Twin Otter aircraft used for the service are currently grounded for maintenance. This has left only one plane available to handle all of the airline's short-distance flights, forcing a reduction in service to Gulmi.
According to Suman Thapa, the station manager at Resunga Airport, the one remaining flight will now be available only on Thursdays. The 18-seater Twin Otter will leave Kathmandu at 6:30 AM, with a one-way fare of Rs 7,500. The return flight will depart from Gulmi at 7:30 AM, and that ticket will cost Rs 7,300.
This new schedule could be difficult for travelers who have already faced flight disruptions. Earlier this year, flights to the district were stopped for about a month and a half because of bad weather.
Nepal Airlines had just started commercial flights to Gulmi on May 12, 2023. With the number of flights now significantly reduced, passengers are facing major travel delays and limited options.
