Kathmandu - The National Examinations Board (NEB) on Friday announced the results of this year’s Secondary Education Examinations (SEE), reporting a significant improvement in student performance compared to the previous year.

A total of 61.81 percent of students successfully secured grades qualifying them for higher education, a notable increase from last year's 47.86 percent. Students who did not achieve the minimum required grades have been categorized as non-graded.

Mahashram Sharma, chairman of NEB, highlighted the positive trend in this year's results.

According to the NEB, out of 438,896 students who sat for the regular examinations, 48,177 achieved a Grade Point Average (GPA) between 3.6 and 4.0. Furthermore, 81,385 students obtained a GPA between 3.2 and 3.6, while 89,124 scored between 2.8 and 3.2. Another 48,479 students secured a GPA between 2.4 and 2.8. In the lower GPA ranges, 4,126 students scored between 2.0 and 2.4, and eight students scored between 1.6 and 2.0.

The NEB also officially confirmed the cancellation of examinations for 126 students due to various reasons.

The SEE, conducted from March 20 to April 1, saw the participation of 514,041 students from 11,216 public and private schools across the country.

Examinations were facilitated at 2,080 centers nationwide, including special provisions made at prisons in Kathmandu and Dailekh, a juvenile correction home in Bhaktapur, and a Nepali school established in Japan called Everest International School established in 2013 to accommodate students abroad.

Under the current letter grading system, a minimum of 35 percent marks in theoretical examinations is mandatory for students to qualify for admission to Grade 11. Those failing to meet this criterion are designated as non-graded and are ineligible to pursue higher education.
