LONDON, UK – A double-decker bus on the number 88 route caught fire in central London early this morning, causing significant disruption on Great Portland Street. The rear of the bus burst into flames at approximately 06:50 BST, directly outside the Portland Hospital.

Emergency services quickly responded to the incident. London Fire Brigade crews were on the scene swiftly and managed to bring the blaze under control by 07:00 BST, just ten minutes after the fire was reported.

All passengers on board the bus were safely evacuated, and thankfully, there have been no reported injuries. The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time, and an investigation is expected to follow.

As a result of the incident, Great Portland Street has been closed in both directions, particularly near Great Portland Street Tube station. This has led to traffic disruption in the immediate area, with motorists and public transport users advised to seek alternative routes.
