Palesha Goverdhan Wins Bronze at Asian Para Taekwondo Championships

KATHMANDU, NEPAL – Palesha Goverdhan has secured a bronze medal for Nepal at the 10th Asian Para Taekwondo Championships held in Kuching, Malaysia. This notable achievement in the K44 -57kg category brings her international medal count to five, solidifying her position as a leading para-athlete in the country. Goverdhan's success was celebrated by her coach, Kabiraj Negi Lama, who stated that the medal was a significant morale boost for the entire Nepalese squad.

The journey to the podium began with a commanding victory over Kamola Juraeva of Uzbekistan, allowing Goverdhan to advance to the semi-finals. Although she was ultimately defeated by Yujie Li from China, her performance secured the third-place finish. A total of seven fighters competed in her weight division.

This medal builds upon a series of impressive accomplishments, including winning Nepal's first Paralympic medal in Paris the previous year. The team, which consisted of five athletes, will now direct its focus towards the 11th World Para Taekwondo Championships scheduled for November.
