London - Ambassador of Nepal to the United Kingdom, Chandra Kumar Ghimire, held discussions with Dr. Chietigj Bajpayee, Research Fellow at Chatham House, in London on Wednesday.
Dr. Bajpayee’s research primarily focuses on South Asia and the Asia-Pacific region. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on regional developments and explore avenues for cooperation.
Ambassador Ghimire, in a social media post, mentioned that the meeting explored potential areas of collaboration between Chatham House, a globally renowned think tank, and the Embassy of Nepal in the coming days.
“We explored possible opportunities for collaboration between Chatham House, a renowned global think tank, and our Embassy in the days ahead,” said Ambassador Ghimire.
Established in 1920 as the British Institute of International Affairs, Chatham House was founded by diplomats who wanted to create a forum for international affairs after World War I. The organization received its iconic headquarters, Chatham House, in 1923, a building named after William Pitt, the Elder. Its name was changed to the Royal Institute of International Affairs in 1926, though it is still commonly known as Chatham House.
The world famous Chatham House Rule, originally adopted in 1927, states that “When a meeting, or part thereof, is held under the Chatham House Rule, participants are free to use the information received, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speaker(s), nor that of any other participant, may be revealed.”
