Kathmandu – Thirty-seven  Nepalis deported from the United States have arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday, officials said.

A spokesperson of the Department of Immigration said that a chartered flight carrying 32 male and five female deportees landed at the Tribhuvan International Airport on Sunday (8th June) afternoon.

Since the second presidency of US President Donald Trump, a total of 140 Nepalis have been deported from the US, according to Nepali officials.

In the first week of March, the US had deported eight Nepalis on board a chartered flight.

The Trump administration launched an aggressive crackdown on undocumented immigrants immediately after assuming office in January 2025.

Nepali officials are interrogating the Nepalis deported from the US how they entered the US illegally.

But sources say most of the deportees don’t mention the name of agents who sent them to the US fearing retribution.
