Bracknell Nepalese Society

Bracknell Nepalese Society

Community & Organisation

Bracknell has a growing Nepali community. It is in Berkshire, South East England, about 11 miles east of Reading, 9 miles south of Maidenhead, and 34 miles west of central London.

Nepalese people started settling in Bracknell and nearby areas around 30 years ago. What began as a few households has now grown to several hundred.

Most of Bracknell’s Nepalese community consists of former Gurkha soldiers and their families. Some were stationed at nearby garrisons in Aldershot and Sandhurst and chose to stay in Bracknell after retirement. Others moved from Nepal after gaining the right to settle in the UK.

The rest of the Nepalese population includes individuals and families who moved to the UK for work and later settled in Bracknell.
